This July, water technology innovator Aquacendo partnered with the Small School Support Project (SSSP) for a meaningful humanitarian initiative, successfully donating 800 LightUp Filtered Bottles to schools in remote towns across Idlib, Syria. By leveraging innovative technology, the initiative brings both clean water and reliable light to children living in challenging conditions.
In many parts of Syria, access to safe drinking water remains a daily struggle. In the remote towns of Idlib, years of conflict have severely damaged local infrastructure. Children often attend classes in makeshift corrugated metal shelters, where safe drinking water and electricity are rare luxuries.
Meeting Basic Needs: From Essential Relief to Scientific Discovery
At SSSP, the core conviction is that education begins with meeting a child’s basic needs—with safe drinking water being paramount.
Aquacendo and SSSP delivered more than just essential supplies; they brought an interactive science lesson directly into the classroom. Specially designed to filter impurities and ensure safe drinking water, each LightUp Filtered Bottle is also equipped with an integrated solar-powered light. Project teams used the bottles as teaching tools to guide students through the mechanics of water filtration, the principles of solar energy, and the importance of sustainability. The built-in light also offers a reliable source of illumination during power outages, enabling children to read and study after dark.
